NMN: nicotinamide mononucleotide
NAD+: nicotinamide dinuleotide
➡️NAD+ is a crucial coenzyme oxidative phosphorylation in mitochondria, the primary source of cellular energy (ATP). With age, NAD+ levels naturally decline, leading to decreased mitochondrial function & increased oxidative stress. This decline is associated with reduced fertility.

➡️ NR and NMN are precursors to NAD+, meaning they can be converted into NAD+ within cells. Supplementing with NR or NMN boosts NAD+ levels, improving cellular energy production & mitochondrial function.

➡️NAD+ is also a substrate for sirtuins, a family of enzymes that play key roles in DNA repair, gene expression, and mitochondrial function. Sirtuins maintain oocyte quality and delay ovarian aging. By increasing NAD+ levels, NR and NMN may enhance sirtuin activity, supporting better oocyte quality and improving the chances of successful conception in older patients

2. CoQ10
Ubiquinone and ubiquinol are two forms of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10). ➡️Ubiquinone is the oxidized form, which accepts electrons during the electron transport chain in mitochondria.
➡️Ubiquinol is the reduced, biologically active form, which donates electrons.
‼️This conversion between ubiquinone and ubiquinol is essential for ATP (energy) production ie. mitochondrial energy production.
✅12 mg/kg body weight, for 4 months preconception for women and 2 months for men

3. Resveratrol
Reduces oxidative stress in ovarian cells, which can protect eggs from damage caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS).
By enhancing mitochondrial function, resveratrol supports better energy production in oocytes, crucial for maintaining their viability. It also modulates cellular signaling pathways involved in aging, potentially improving egg quality, especially in women with age-related fertility decline.

👉Irregular or absent periods (amenorrhea): Hypothyroidism can cause disruptions in the menstrual cycle, making ovulation irregular or stopping it altogether.

👉Heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding: This can occur due to hormonal imbalances.
👉Difficulty conceiving: Hypothyroidism can lead to ovulatory dysfunction, making it harder to become pregnant.
👉Increased risk of early pregnancy loss: Untreated hypothyroidism is associated with a higher risk of early pregnancy loss.

👉Low basal body temperature: Thyroid issues can affect the body’s ability to maintain a consistent basal temperature, which is important for tracking ovulation.

👉Low levels of progesterone: This hormone is essential for maintaining a pregnancy, and low thyroid function can decrease its levels.

👉Elevated prolactin levels: Hypothyroidism may increase prolactin, a hormone that can inhibit ovulation and lead to infertility.

🙋‍♂️Fertility In Men:
👉Reduced sperm quality and motility: Hypothyroidism can decrease sperm production, leading to fertility challenges.

👉Erectile dysfunction: Thyroid hormone imbalances can affect sexual function.

👉Lower testosterone levels: A sluggish thyroid may reduce the production of testosterone, impacting fertility.

‼️You only need 3️⃣ symptoms for me to be thinking thyroid

TSH does not test your thyroid. But if that’s al

TSH does not test your thyroid. But if that’s all your GP will test, we can work with that.
First thing you need to do, is ask for a copy of your blood tests.
Second thing, interpretation. TSH reference range is generally 0.5-4. Optimal is 0.5-1.5.
If yours is 2 or more, then you need to start thinking about subclinical hypothyroidism ie. sluggish thyroid. It means T4 and/or T3 are probably low or not in optimal range.

➡️To make thyroid hormones we need tyrosine, iodine, selenium, zinc, vitamin A, D & B12, iron, copper & magnesium.

➡️Stop eating too much raw food. Goitrogens are not a problem if you cook your veggies.

➡️Stress is a major trigger for thyroid dysfunction. Stress affects the HPA/HPO/HPT axis. Stress uses up your nutrients. Stress can trigger autoimmune thyroiditis (thyroid antibodies) which attack your thyroid gland.

“My thyroid has been checked and it’s fine”

“My thyroid has been checked and it’s fine” is a sentence I hear ALL. THE. TIME.

I’m here to tell you, it probably hasn’t (been tested) and it’s usually not (fine).

Standard medical testing uses TSH as a marker to rule out thyroid dysfunction. TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) comes from the BRAIN 🧠 to tell the thyroid 🦋to make more or less T4 and T3 (thyroid hormones). It literally simulates the thyroid to make thyroid hormones.
It is your brains communication with your thyroid. It is NOT a thyroid hormone. Thus it tests how well your thyroid is being regulated.

If TSH is in range, generally no further testing will be done. That’s because the suggestion is everything is fine as TSH is doing its job.

WRONG.
Just because TSH is in range, does not mean everything is fine.

➡️TSH does not rule out thyroid antibodies
➡️TSH does not rule out Reverse T3 issues
➡️TSH is the last hormone to move.

‼️This all means you can have thyroid dysfunction well before TSH goes out of range.

🩸Blood test results: the standard medical range is in brackets, my ideal levels are next to that:

TSH (0.50-4.00 mIU/L) 0.5-1.5
Free T4 (10-23 pmol/L) > 14 pmol/L closer to 16/17/18
Free T3 (3.5-6.5 pmol/L) > 5 pmol/L
Reverse T3 (170-540 pmol/L) < 300
T3: RT3 ratio (1.2-2.2pmol/L) 1.8-2
TPO (< 60 IU/mL) < 30
TgAb (< 4.5 IU/L) < 1.3
